Lily-Rose Depp made rare comments about her reclusive brother Jack while promoting her new film Nosferatu on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The 25-year-old actress was born outside of Paris to actor Johnny Depp and actress Vanessa Paradis, splitting her time between both America and France.
Last week, it was revealed that her 22-year-old brother Jack has been working as a bartender at a trendy Lebanese restaurant called L’Area in the Bastille quarter of Paris.
While she didn’t comment on his hospitality career, she did reveal that her new film Nosferatu has a special connection to her brother.
When asked how familiar she was with the story of Dracula, Depp admitted, ‘I was always a fan of the Dracula tale.’
She added: ‘My brother and I were obsessed with Abbott and Costello as kids, and, you know, they have a a whole, like, Meet the Monsters” series.’
‘We particularly were drawn to the “Meet Dracula” one, the Bela Lugosi,’ she said, admitting they were both quite young.
‘And my brother was, like, three or four at the time, and he started dressing up like Dracula, and doing these kind of, like, really serious line readings of the lines,’ she said.
Depp admitted, ‘So, in a way, I grew up as, like, older sister to Dracula,’ admitting her new Nosferatu role is, ‘totally full circle’ for her.
‘When I heard that, you know, when I got the opportunity to audition for this movie, I thought, like, you know, “How full circle, and maybe I’ll get some cool points with my bro,”‘ she said of Jack.
Jack had been working at L’Arena for a few years before leaving the restaurant a few months ago, although he’s expected to return.
L’Arena owner Edouard Chueke told Daily Mail that he expected Jack to return sometime later next year.
‘Jack is a great guy; he keeps out of the limelight, but worked here behind the bar and in the kitchen,’ Chueke said of his employee.
‘He was a good employee, he left a few months ago but I expect him back later next year. Good staff are hard to find,’ he added.
‘I’ve been running this place for 15 years and it’s very popular with the fashion and music crowd, but also film stars come here, and Jack’s mum Vanessa Paradis and sister are regulars,’ he said of Lily-Rose.
‘Lily was mixing caipirinhas behind the bar and really getting into the swing of it, she was enjoying herself,’ he added.
Jack’s mother Vanessa revealed in a 2007 interview, ‘Now I indeed keep them away from the cameras because I don’t want our children to be forced to share in our fame against their will.
‘They didn’t ask for that. Not yet. The day that they will decide for themselves to do things that might bring them into the spotlights, then I won’t stop,’ she said.
